Our CRASAC counselling service offers a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to all genders 18 years and older who have experienced any form of rape, sexual abuse or sexual violence at any time in their lives. Counselling provides a space/opportunity for survivors to explore and work through their experiences of sexual violence. Survivors who have had counselling have spoken of how they have felt believed, heard, accepted and understood by their counsellor.
CRASAC counsellors will never pressure you into talking about anything you do not want to talk about. The focus of the sessions is on what you choose to bring.
The effects of the abuse may not always be obvious for many years after the event. Counselling cannot make the abuse go away, but it will enable you to work through your thoughts and feelings so that you can acknowledge what happened and live with it as a part of your life, without being overwhelmed or controlled by it.
CRASAC also offers counselling to supporters of victims and survivors of rape and sexual violence. It may be that you are the partner or family member of someone who is struggling with their experiences and you need support to understand the impacts of this, how best to support and to support you with your feelings and experiences related to this.
